The U18 Tier 1 Non-Body Contact Hockey Provincials are here in Edmonton on March 27-30. We are looking for some kids to paint the blade of a hockey stick that will then be used as an MVP award for a game in the tournament. We would love to have any patients, or siblings of a patient who has passed away, paint a blade. That child could then present the stick after one of the games, or it could be presented on their behalf if they are unable to attend. We are hoping this will bring awareness to more people that kids have surgery/conditions that impact their brain and/or spine.
We will provide a wooden hockey stick that has been sanded down and primed white. When the painting is done, we will shellac the stick so the painting will last. We are also happy to provide the acrylic paint and brushes if you don’t have some kicking around your house.
Sticks can be delivered in Edmonton and the surrounding area or picked up if you are out and about. We are looking to have 22 sticks painted by March 20.
If you think your kiddo might be interested in painting a stick, please email Soula at soulam@hotmail.com. Please let us know if your child would be interested in presenting their stick themselves or if they would prefer we present it for them.
Thanks so much! I am hoping this is a unique way to spread the message that there are children in Alberta that have had brain or spine surgery, that need going support.
Thank you so much to all the families that are participating! We are so excited to see the beautiful paintings your kids come up with!
If you can please have the sticks ready for the 20th and we will contact you then to see if you can drop off or need it picked up 😊❤️
For those asking, they can use their imagination to paint whatever they'd like!
It doesn't have to be hockey related either.❤️🎖️
Still looking for 3 more kids to paint sticks. Please msg me anytime🥰🏒

Ohh this is curious!! Camp would be amazing, but I am not sure how likely that is due to the previous venue troubles.
Anything you lovelies plan for us to come together to experience the love and fellowship NKF inspires is truly appreciated. <3
The New Year always hangs heavy on my heart, on the hearts of our whole team.
We feel the profound loss our families have experienced. I cannot begin to understand the depth of their sorrow but we remember them—not just their laughter and smiles, but the joy and love they brought into this world. Their presence, though sometimes brief, has left an indelible mark on all of us. They have changed us in ways we continue to feel; they inspire us to be more compassionate, more aware, and more understanding. They inspire us to work harder and to make change.
Please know that we stand with you in your grief. We remember, we honor, and we celebrate the beautiful lives of your children. They will forever be a part of our practice, lives and our hearts. ... See MoreSee Less

Love you to moon and back! We would have been lost without you Wendy when all 3 of our children were sick. You were there on our darkest days and our successes! This article hits way too close to home! Your a rock and inspiration!
If only Ayva was under 18. She battles with this daily. Well, we both do. It just heart-wrenching. Thank you for sharing your story and supporting such a fragile group. ❤️
